SMS Notifications Consent
Last updated: May 2026
What you're consenting to
When you enable SMS notifications inside the 1099 Ops app, you agree to receive transactional text messages from 1099 Ops at the phone number you provide.
We will only send you messages for the channels you opt into. You can change which channels are on at any time from the SMS Preferences page in the app.
Where consent happens in the app
Consent is captured in the same place you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy — inside the in-app onboarding wizard. SMS opt-in is an additional explicit checkbox alongside those acceptances. You can decline SMS and still use 1099 Ops fully. Consent is not a condition of purchase or service.
After SMS consent, you choose one of two setup paths:
- Setup wizard. Continue the standard in-app guided wizard (calendar sync, facility rules, attribution).
- SMS setup with 1099OPS Agent. Our AI agent texts you and walks you through the entire app setup conversationally over SMS. Choose this if you'd rather thumb-type than tap through screens.
Either path uses the same app — the SMS path just lets the agent guide you. You can switch between them at any time.
What channels exist
You opt in to specific channels. Each channel can be toggled on or off independently in the app's SMS Preferences page.

What we will never send by SMS
We will never include any of the following in an SMS message:
- Your full Social Security Number, Tax ID Number, or EIN
- Your full bank account number or routing number
- Your full credit card or debit card number
- Your spouse's personal information
- Specific medical information
When dollar amounts are mentioned, they are rounded to the nearest $100 to avoid leaking precise figures. Detailed information is available only inside the authenticated app.
How often you'll get messages
Frequency varies by which channels you've enabled and how active your account is. A typical user receives between 2 and 10 messages per month. High-activity users with bank feeds and the agent enabled may receive more.
How we identify ourselves
Every SMS we send begins with "1099Ops:" or "1099Ops Agent:" so you can recognize the sender. We do not send SMS from any other identifier.
How to opt out
You can opt out at any time using any of these methods:
- Reply STOP to any message. This stops all SMS from us immediately.
- Reply STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT — same effect.
- Toggle off the channel inside the app's SMS Preferences page.
- Click "Disconnect SMS" on the SMS Preferences page to remove all subscriptions.
After you opt out, you'll receive a one-time confirmation message from our SMS provider. You will not receive further messages unless you re-opt-in.
How to get help
- Reply HELP to any message for support contact information.
- Email support@1099ops.app.
Re-opting in
If you've opted out and want to re-subscribe:
- Reply START to opt back in via SMS.
- Or visit the SMS Preferences page in the app and re-enable the channels you want.
Message and data rates
Standard message and data rates may apply. Rates depend on your mobile carrier and plan. Contact your carrier with questions about your rate plan.
Carriers we support
We support all major US carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and their MVNOs). International SMS is not supported at this time.
Phone verification
Before we send you any operational messages, we send a one-time 6-digit verification code (via Twilio Verify) to the phone number you provide. You enter the code inside the app. This confirms the number belongs to you and prevents accidental enrollment of someone else's phone.
How we keep your phone number safe
- We never share your phone number with third parties for marketing.
- Our SMS provider (Twilio) processes messages on our behalf — they are bound by a Data Processing Agreement.
- Phone numbers are stored encrypted at rest in our database.
- After you opt out, we retain your phone number for 30 days for re-opt-in convenience, then anonymize the record.
What we do with inbound replies
When you reply to an SMS, the reply may be processed in one of these ways:
- STOP / HELP / START keywords are handled by Twilio's Advanced Opt-Out service automatically. Twilio sends the appropriate response and notifies us.
- Y / YES / N / NO are interpreted as a response to a pending action that 1099OPS Agent proposed. The action is committed (Y) or rejected (N) inside the app's pending-actions queue.
- 6-digit numeric code is interpreted as a 2FA confirmation if a verification challenge is open.
- Anything else is forwarded to 1099OPS Agent, our AI agent, which may reply with information about your account or propose an action for you to review in-app.
